Rajshekhar Ray was a king who in spite of being married loved Aparna, a dancer. Rajshekhar loved Aparna, but Aparna loved Raghubir was Rajshekhar's friend. Rajshekhar's wife sent her son to Kolkata for higher studies. At the same time Aparna escaped from the palace with Raghubir. On the way Raghubir was killed by Rajshekhar. Aparna took shelter in a priest's house. A baby was soon born to her. Rajshekhar got to know this and he took away the baby forcefully from Aparna. After some years, Rajshekhar's son came back after finishing his studies. One day he saw a girl in their rest house. Shekhar wanted to know who she was. He learnt that she was the daughter of Aparna, Kankabati. Shekhar got married at an early age. His wife came to the palace. But Shekhar did not accept her as his wife because he was in love with Kankabati. Kankabati also loved Shekhar. On the other hand Suryakanta who was a priest's son gave shelter to Aparna and loved Kankabati. Kankabati's mother decided to give her daughter's hand in marriage to Suryakanta. But all her plans were thwarted by Rajshekar Ray. Suryakanta came in between the two and told Rajshekhar about Shekhar and Kankabati's love story. Suryakanta went to Kankabati and informed him of his mother still being alive. So Kankabati agreed to go with Suryakanta. At that moment Shekhar was present there and killed both Suryakanta and Kankabati. Then he surrendered himself to the police. To save his son Rajshekhar took the blame of the murder on himself. Rajshekhar was sent to jail. Shekhar started loving Aparna as his own mother and all ended happily.
